Meet your doula!

Welcome, I’m Mytala!

When I was younger, I knew I wanted a profession that allowed me to work directly with others. This led me to become a babysitter and nanny from age 16 to current day, then to become an elementary school teacher for the past 6 years. About a year ago, I felt my heart tugging and saying, “You know you want a doula when you become a mom someday, perhaps you could offer that support to others now.” The facts I have learned regarding birth and the postpartum period are alarming, and I wanted to become more knowledgeable and share that with others as well. So that led me to seek becoming a doula! I am truly excited to gain another, new perspective in serving and loving on families.

I am in the process of obtaining my postpartum certification and have already began supporting families. I am also becoming a birth doula, with services to be announced next year. I will continue teaching while providing postpartum care services in the afternoons and evenings on teaching days. On weekends, days off, and during summer break, I will be available for longer daytime hours.

As I have learned more and stepped into this role, I have gained valuable experience through a supportive, close-knit mentorship group and attended birth classes. I also worked closely with families from various backgrounds. These experiences have deepened my understanding and appreciation for the essential role of a postpartum doula in supporting mothers and their family.

I cannot wait to meet you!

XO, Mytala
